Improve Your Employees’ Work Day In 10 Steps

If you want to ensure that your employees are always motivated and productive during their time at work, you need to make sure that they have a really good day. That way, they will be able to feel comfortable and relaxed in the workplace and will have complete focus on their work. Ready to help your employees have a great day at work? Here are ten steps you can take.

Greet Them

It is important that your employees are in a good mood as soon as they step into your office, and you can help them improve their mood by greeting them. It doesn’t take too much time or effort to go around and say hello or good morning to all your staff. And this is a really small gesture that they will really appreciate from their boss.

Fix The Heating And Air Conditioning

If your office is too hot or too cold, there is no way your employees are going to have a comfortable day at work. So, it’s worth fixing any issues with your heating and air conditioning systems. Even if you think that everything is in working order, it’s worth contacting a firm like ABC Home & Commercial Services to come and service your systems. This can prolong their lifespan and reduces the chance of them unexpectedly breaking down.

Get Blue Screen Protectors

If your employees work a lot at computers, they will be at risk of eye strain. This is because of the blue light that is emitted from the computer screens. If your employees do suffer from this, they will find that their eyes become dry and irritable. Thankfully, there is an easy solution to this – you just need to get some blue screen protectors. These are transparent film that you stick onto the screen.

Add Free Tea, Coffee, And Snacks

Another nice gesture is to add some free drinks and snacks to the office. Employees can then help themselves whenever they feel hungry or thirsty. Make sure that your office kitchen is always stocked up with tea and coffee, as well as a variety of snacks. It’s quite alright to provide sweet snacks like cookies, but you should also have a healthy option available, such as a fruit basket.

Invest In Training

Sometimes employees can find it difficult to enjoy their day at work because they aren’t able to do their work to the best of their abilities. This might be because they lack some form of training. Make sure that you regularly send your employees on training courses and team-building events. It is also a good idea to encourage your employees to help each other. For example, when you hire newbies, you can get some of your workers who have been with your company a while to show them the ropes. This is a great way to inject some team spirit into your office!

Stop Micromanaging Them

Employees can feel very uncomfortable and sometimes even intimidated when managers and supervisor micromanage them. It’s also bad for the company as it prevents workers building on their own ideas and inspiration. To stop micromanaging your team, you should give everyone a lot more independence and focus on your own tasks and responsibilities. There is plenty more advice in this blog post here.

Add A Breakout Room

It’s important that your employees always take their allocated breaks each day. They shouldn’t simply take them at their computer, though, as this won’t feel like much of a break to them. Instead, why not convert a room into a breakout room. You should fill this with sofas, vending machines, and even some games like table football so that your team can enjoy their break well away from their work!

Consider Allowing Flexitime

Your employees might not enjoy their work day if they are stressed about things outside of work. For instance, maybe they are worried that they don’t have childcare sorted for their kids after school that day. Or perhaps they are anxious about asking for time off to go to a dentist appointment. So, it’s worth starting flexi time. That way, your employees can work any hours they want as long as they do their full contracted time in the week. For instance, if your workers work forty hours a week, they might want to be in the office from 8 am to 4 pm rather than the standard 9 am to 5 pm.

Organize Social Events

It’s important that your employees all get on with one another and socialize outside of work. This will then help them communicate and work together a lot better in the office. The best way to encourage socializing is to organize some social events. For instance, many companies like to organize drinks every Friday evening after office hours. You might want to take your team to a local bar or simply order in some beers and take out to enjoy in the breakout room! It’s also a nice idea to organize one bigger social event each month. For instance, if you don’t have many employees, you might want to treat them to a dinner. This is a great way to show how much you appreciate all their hard work.

Encourage Feedback

Not sure whether your employees are actually having a good day at work or not? You need to ask for their feedback! Don’t worry; you don’t have to ask them face to face. In actual fact, that could be quite intimidating for them, and they might not want to tell you their true feelings. It is a much better idea to add a feedback box somewhere in your office. Your team can then post their ideas, suggestions, and feedback whenever they have any. You can then use all of this feedback to improve your employee’s’ working life!

Once you start to utilize all of the above steps, you will notice a major difference in all of your team. They will be a lot more happy in their day to day life at work!
