Important Details All Students Need to Know About AIPMT 2016

Every year thousands of candidates after passing class 12th appear for the AIPMT test to get admission in some of the top government medical colleges. But only appearing for the exam is not enough, rather you need to know a number of things before you finally fill up the AIPMT form. If you are preparing for the test this year, then there are some important points that you should surely keep in mind and some of these important points have been explained here.

The Application form

If you are about to sit for AIPMT 2016, then you must have already filled up the form by December 2015 and if not, then of course you need to wait for the next session. The form is filled up by visiting the official site of the exam where the application fee for the general or OBC students is Rs. 1200/- if submitted within time and Rs. 2400/- if you submit it within late fee submission date. For students who come under the sections SC, ST or PH, the application fee is Rs. 650/- while with late fees it is Rs. 1850/-.

Submitting the application form is easy:

  • You need to visit the official site for the AIPMT exam and login to download an information brochure where you will get an option of applying online.
  • Fill up the form and do not forget to note your registration number.
  • Now you have to upload your scanned JPEG photograph, your left hand thumb impression and also your signature. In case you are from place like Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh, you also need to submit your declaration.
  • Now the next step is to make online payment of the application fee.
  • After everything is done, take a print out of the form for back up and then submit it. Also do not forget to check status of your form.

Eligibility criteria and important dates

You can only appear for the test if you are eligible for the same. To appear for the exam, the candidates should have passed in 10+2 with the subjects Biology, Physics, Chemistry and mathematics and may have secured at least 50% in case he or she is a general student, 45% in case he or she is an OBC and at least 40% if he or she comes under the categories SC, ST or PH.

He or she should be an Indian citizen and must be of 17 years of age, though there is a relaxation of 5 years in the AIPMT age limit for students from SC, ST and PH background. Candidates from Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh can only take AIPMT admission in AFMC of Pune.

Students can apply from the 1st week of December till last week of December without late fees and again till last week of January with late fees. Also there is a special window that opens in the month of February only for correction in the form. Candidates can get their AIPMT admit card by the first week of April and the exam date is somewhere in the 1st week of May. The AIPMT result will be announced during the 1st week of June.

Subjects for which you need to prepare are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and mathematics and you need to take care that in the 3 hours question paper, you will be marked negative for each wrong answer.
